We have multiple subjects covered by the standards, including: Science, Social Studies, Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship and Fine Arts. Please check our Ohio Education page for more details.
Most of our educational program travels around and meet the students at their location. That said, we do offer private, semi-private and group classes in our warehouse/office space located at 2049 Builders Place, Columbus OH 43204
We are a S-Corp for-profit multi-layered business. We embrace the Triple Bottom framework of People, Planet and Profits and operate as a social enterprise. The well-being of all people, community and planet, inspire and guide our decisions. Our educational arm operates as a creative platform teaching fashion art and entrepreneurship to grades K-12 in Ohio.
We have been running afterschool programs since 2017 and started offering summer camps in 2022. All of these programs were hosted in collaboration with other organizations such as Upper Arlington Rec & Parks and the Columbus Museum of Art.
Summer 2023 was our first year running a summer camp 100% independently. It was another success and we plan to lease UA City School buildings again for more next summer.
Our Summer Fashion Camp focus on students in the age group of 5-18 years old.
We will have 3 instructors per class plus extra guest local artists attending at scheduled special hours. You can meet our leadership team by visiting "meet the team" page here.
We will offer a "boutique' size camp this summer. Max. 15 students will be allowed per class.
We do offer a 10% discount for siblings enrolling for summer camp. They do not need to attend the same sessions, it doesn't matter the dates each prefer to attend. Simply places all sessions in the shopping cart and enter coupon SIBLINGS during checkout. Let us know if you find any issues or have extra questions.
Please visit our Policies page to learn more.
Thank you for asking, yes we do! As a matter of fact we love donations of new or pre-loved clothes and accessories (jewelry included), plus a variety of other items such as sewing and art supplies and tools. We believe in reuse, recycle, upcycle and everything possible to minimize pollution to our landfill.
We accept fabric, garments and accessories of all styles and conditions. We are currently seeking a few more sewing machines, looms, all kinds of jewelry making tools and supplies, dress forms, fashion design rulers, fabric scissors, fabric markers and paint, crochet, knit and embroidery sewing needles and craft supplies. Learn more here.
At this moment, we are unable to provide tax-deduction receipts. We are investigating possible solutions and will update the website when we have more solid news on this matter.
Not yet. We are looking into funding possibilities and projects to support our mission and vision. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn fashion as a language and be their best. We will update the website when we have more solid news. Want to stay in the loop? Sign-up to stay connected!
Any items not used in our classrooms, fashion productions or special events will be recycled or donated to other organizations in our community. We also partner with individuals and organizations to serve the underserved in our community (ie.: we pass on coats to kids and homeless during winter months), etc. Bottom-line is: nothing goes to waste.
We are fashion lovers and connoiseurs. In the event we identify a piece of historical or fashion design value, we transfer the item to be sold online. We want those treasures to stay intact and carry on their original design and history. These collectibles will be cherished and cared for by buyers who recognize its original design and will preserve their rich fashion historical value.
Talkingfashion Inc. has been selling sustainable fashion online for over 2 decades. The ecommerce store brings buyers from all over the world, many are movie producers, wardrobe set stylists and fashion houses who use old designs as inspiration. Proceeds from the sales of donated pieces are used to fund our educational programs.
Fashion Runway Production is currently offered as an afterschool program 3x/year (Winter, Spring, and Fall) at selected Upper Arlington Elementary schools. The program is also offered to K-12 students from Columbus through UARP Youth Activities year around.
We also offer Adult Programs around the language of fashion. Visit Upper Arlington Rec & Parks website to find most current offerings.
Priscila Teixeira continues to collaborate with other local non-profits and will share educational opportunities as they arise. Sign up and stay in the loop of opportunities.
